This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you visit slowbirds.pub or notes.slowbirds.pub (collectively, the “Sites”).
The Sites are operated by slowbirds. Questions or requests concerning this policy may be sent to slowbirds@gmail.com.
Information processed when you visit
The Sites do not currently provide public user accounts, comments, payments, or newsletter registration.
When you access the Sites, technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, requested page, access time, and security-related data may be processed automatically by the infrastructure used to deliver and protect the Sites.
The public Sites and their media are delivered through Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes technical information under its Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics
The Sites may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Sites.
Google Analytics is loaded only after you select “Accept” in the Sites’ cookie preferences. When enabled, Google Analytics may process information such as pages viewed, referral information, browser and device characteristics, approximate location, and interactions with the Sites.
We do not intentionally send your name, email address, or other directly identifying information to Google Analytics.
Google’s handling of analytics data is described in its privacy and data safeguards documentation. Google states that Analytics uses cookies and that site visitors should be given an opportunity to grant or deny their consent.
Cookie preferences
The Sites store a first-party preference cookie named slowbirds_consent_v1 to remember whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies.
This preference is shared between slowbirds.pub and notes.slowbirds.pub and expires after 180 days.
Selecting “Reject” prevents the Sites from loading Google Analytics. You can change your choice at any time by selecting “Cookie preferences” in the footer.
If you withdraw consent after Google Analytics has loaded, the Sites disable subsequent analytics loading and remove the Google Analytics cookies that they can identify on the slowbirds.pub domain. Withdrawal cannot cancel information that was already transmitted.
SoundCloud player
The slowbirds.pub homepage contains an embedded SoundCloud player.
The SoundCloud player is loaded directly when the page is displayed and is not controlled by the Sites’ Google Analytics preference. SoundCloud may receive technical information about your device, IP address, and the page containing the player, and may use cookies or similar technologies.
SoundCloud specifically states that its widgets may receive information about the website a visitor accessed. Details are available in the SoundCloud Privacy Policy.
Rejecting Google Analytics on the Sites does not prevent SoundCloud from processing information through its embedded player. Browser privacy settings or content-blocking features may limit third-party content.
External links
The Sites contain links to third-party services such as SoundCloud, Bandcamp, YouTube, Google Drive, and Mogra Radio.
When you follow an external link, the destination service may receive information in accordance with its own privacy policy. This Privacy Policy does not govern information collected directly by those services.
Email communication
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address, message, and any other information you choose to provide.
We use this information to respond to your inquiry and handle related communication. We do not use contact emails for unrelated marketing without permission.
How information is used and shared
Information processed through the Sites may be used to:
- deliver and secure the Sites;
- remember your cookie preference;
- understand site usage when you have accepted analytics;
- diagnose technical problems;
- respond to inquiries.
We do not sell or lease personal information.
Information may be processed by service providers when necessary to host, deliver, secure, or measure the Sites. These providers may process information in countries other than the country where a visitor resides and apply their own retention and security practices.
Retention and security
We retain information under our direct control only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including responding to inquiries and maintaining site security.
Information processed by Google, Cloudflare, SoundCloud, or another third party is retained according to that provider’s settings and policies.
We take reasonable measures to protect information under our control, but no Internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your choices and requests
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights concerning personal information under our control, including requesting access, correction, or deletion.
Requests may be sent to slowbirds@gmail.com. We may need to verify the request before responding.
Analytics consent can be changed through “Cookie preferences” in the footer. Cookie controls and stored data can also be managed through browser settings.
Changes to this policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy when the Sites, their service providers, or applicable requirements change.
The revised version will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
